Here's a video of one of my favourite bands at the moment, Arctic Monkey.
After seeing them at Oxegen in July '06 for the first time, I fell in love with them. I had never really listened to any of their music until I seen them live. So obviously after Oxegen, I bought their album and listened to it non-stop. And I actually didn't get sick of hearing them because everyone knows when they listen to the same songs over and over again, you just feel like throwing the CD away, well I do anyway.
But not this time. When they released a date for Malahide Castle in June this year, I couldn't resist going. Firstly because I was infatuated with them and secondly I had just finished my Leaving Cert and what better way could a girl celebrate!
This song is my favourite song. It's called 'Certain Romance'. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Try something new everyday.
I made a pact to try something new everyday, or at least try something that scares me once a day, as seen in a previous post. No matter how scared or how many excuses I had I had to try something.
so it began, I have a terrible fear of heights and so I stuck to my word and went on the Farris wheel at the Marshes shopping centre in Dundalk. It took some persuading as we got closer to the wheel and I saw the actual size of it. However, i closed my eyes and went up. I couldn't open my eyes and so all I could hear was the squeaking sound of the Ferris wheel as it went up and up and up. Eventually it came to a halt and I opened my eyes. scared t first I shut them immediately, but when I opened them again the view was amazing. We had stopped at the very top of the Farris heel and the view went on for miles and miles. Dundalk looked amazing at night with hundreds of lights flickering in the distance. Although I must admit I could not wait to be on the ground again.
I was very proud of myself that I had went on the Ferris wheel and conquered my fear of heights.

PR2 Film
Last week i had a very exciting lunch time, i went to visit Ashling Ward in her apartment. When there we got spotted, haha. We were asked to play two nurses in a film for one of the second year PR students, was this our big break?Haha.
We arrived on "set" in our uniforms to be greeted by lights, camera action.....and an old man?Running through our minds, what is going on?
We were then filled in on the script, which to summarise up was about Ashling and me walking in to the old man, who was celebrating his birthday and give him his medication.
It took a while for the acting streak in us to come out, but when it did we were true professionals.
Hollywood here we come.
Winter Blues
Its that time of year again and all of a sudden the excitement of being in college has gone down hill. When you have to get up and walk for twenty dark, wet, cold minutes. You arrive in the overheated college looking like a traffic light. Yes, I almost stop traffic, not because of my outrageous good looks, haha, but because of my winter glow.
Top this with continual assessments, blogs and exams, i can't help but not get in to the Christmas spirit. I have desperately tried to, along with my flatmates make our apartment a little bit seasonal. However I have a feeling that it is going to take a lot more than tacky tinsel and a few Christmas lights. I cannot wait until our last exam on Thursday the 20th of December, which is also our class Christmas party.
Roll on Christmas.

Toby :)
I could not do a personal blog without mentioning my puppy Toby. I got Toby from my parents for my birthday during the Summer. It was a big surprise and he was in a massive box with a blue ribbon (obviously because he's a boy) when they gave him to me. So it really was like something you'd see in a film.
A dog was the last thing I was expecting for my birthday, completely different from the usual clothes, make-up, etc. You can imagine how excited I was to see this big parcel, it was about 20 times bigger than Toby. I really didn't know what to expect.
Toby began his cute little bark as soon as I started to open the box. He was only 7 weeks old so you can imagine how tiny he was.
I became attached to Toby as soon as I lifted him out from the box and from then on, anywhere I went he came too. He's spoilt rotten and I sometimes think if my parents got him for their own sake because he's treated like one of us. However, I'm glad they are like that towards him because they're the ones who look after him during the week while I'm in Dundalk.
The picture above is the most recent one I could find but you can clearly see how cute he is!
Dr. Pepper 'whats the worst that could happen?'
Do you all remember the Dr.Pepper drink advertisement on television? There Catchphrase was 'Dr. Pepper, whats the worst that could happen?'
Well I was thinking about it the other day and thought i would take the advice to see how it goes. Just to let you all know, never take his advice.
Lets set the scene for you all to get a good mental image, the student bar, Chloe with some fellow PR students eyes up a fella at the bar. Chloe thinking of the Dr Pepper add finishes her drink and with the theme tune running through her mind, walks to the bar and orders a drink.
She "acidentally" ends up standing beside the fella she was eyeing up. Keeping in mind, "whats the worst that could happen?"
Chloe decides to itroduce herself to the fella suddenly realises that her voice has gone so high pitched that she sound slike a bag of cats wailing, at this stage the fella is already looking at her strangely. Chloe's legs then drop as she realises the fella is better looking than she thought, as she reaches out to introduce herself a fellow student in the bar bumps into her which cause her to spill the fellas drink around him
Is she hurt? No just mortified. Not only has she spilt his drink, but it is where she has spilt her drink. That's right folks, on my new blue and white t-shirt. One of my friends distracted him immediately as I made a quick escape to the nearest exit.
Moral of the story, never take Dr Peppers advice.
My six hour journey home from Galway
For Halloween me and some friends from home went to Galway City for the night. It was brilliant and I had a great time. However he next day was awful. Not only was everyone wreaked tired but we had to travel for six hours just to get home on the bus. Usually if someone drives over it takes an hour and a half, depending on traffic.
It just goes to show the round about way people have to go home from college or if some body wanted to go shopping to Galway for the day and had no car or more unfortunately could not drive.
It started off early on Thursday morning, November first. We waited, still asleep, for the bus to arrive. The bus took just over two hours to get to Athlone. Here we had a half hour stop off, waiting for our next bus to Longford bus station. When we arrived in Longford bus station an hour and fourty-five minutes later we had a stop off for fifteen minutes but add to that an outrageous fourty minute delay. Why so outrageous you might ask? Doesn't everybody have delays, but when your tired, cold and hungry, everything seems worse. The only food available to eat was sweets from a small tuck shop and watery tea. All that went through my mind is that i could be home from here in a thirty minute drive and that i want my own car.
Eventually we arrived in Carrick-On-Shannon. I waited for my lift home and eventually I collapsed on my living room couch six hours after I had left Galway City.

No off licence for ten miles
I went home last weekend and it just happened my sister was home that weekend aswel. We decided to have a quiet night in, get a DVD and a take-away. When we were in our local town we thought it would be a good idea to get a few drinks to have with it. Recently the off licence closed down but as there is many grocery shops in the town like Centra, Mace and Spar we presumed that one of those shops would have a fridge especially for alcohol. The only shop who sold alcohol was Mace which sold wine, that we did not feel like. We thought about the nearest Off-licence and to our amazement the nearest was, not in the next two village's, but ten miles away in Carrick-On-Shannon. I drove home again and we had an alcohol free night. We thought it was very surprising why the Off-licence would close down as there is a lot of young people in my area.
My sister went travelling this year and she told me about 'drive through off-licences' that are very popular in Australia. This gave me an idea and I wondered why there aren't any in Ireland. Watch this space people.
World Rally at home
Three weekends ago the World Rally Championships took place in my home County, Roscommon. It was the first time the World Rally came to Ireland. The main counties the rally took place in was in counties Roscommon, Leitrim, Sligo and Fermanagh. The amount of people that was in my local town that weekend was phenomenal. Who ever thought that there would be traffic jams in Leitrim and Roscommon for over an hour?
I have to say I cant complain though as I have never in all my life seen such a buzz and excitement around the area. Everyone came together and there was a brilliant community spirit. I even heard that people had prepared the community hall so that visitors could sleep there.
From the very beginning when it was announced that it would be in our area to when it was over, people still talk about how great it was.
Unfortunately I was unable to make the first stage of the rally that went directly by my house because of college, but all of my friends and family have filled me in on the chaos that surrounded the event. Both my sister and brother both went camping with their friends the night before on the mountain top, as the roads were closing a five am that morning. Can I add it was approximately five degrees Celsius and all that for a good view? As i said before ultimate chaos.
Here's a video of a crash at the Irish WRC.

Kanye west mayhem
I have been a Kanye West fans for ages now and when i heard that he had a concert coming up I had to get tickets within two days, even though i am a typical poor student with no money, I had to make an exception. I meet my friend Aisling, who I was going to the concert with, in the city centre. My sister was in Dublin getting her hair done for her Christmas party that night and so we had to wait almost three hours before we got to her house. On the way we stopped at the off licence to get some drinks as we knew it would be almost impossible to get near the bar at the concert and even if we did get near it, the only thing to buy would be the usual watery beer in plastic cups.
When we arrived at my sisters house, it was almost eight o clock. The gates opened at seven and we were not ready. Panic set in. As my sister frantically rushed out the door to her party, she left us with one taxi number and the address of her house. We immediately called the taxi number but the taxi company couldn't make it until another fourty minutes. Disaster.
Things went from bad to worse, as we rang directory inquiries for at least ten other taxi numbers the delay seemed to get longer and within a space of five minutes, the waiting list had gone from fourty minutes to over an hour.
We ventured out into the stormy night armed with umbrella's and a backpack of drinks for the night in search of a bus stop. Eventually we found a bus one, but yes, more confusion, what side of the road are we suppose to be on. We flagged a taxi after a ten minute walk up the street and asked him to bring us to Burgh Quay, where the shuttle buses went from. I looked in my bag to find my purse but surprise surprise I had forgotten it back at the house. We got the taxi as far as Connelly station to the bank link, thank God Aisling had just enough money to pay for it. We crossed the road to the bank link, but it was out of order.
The walk from Talbot street to O'Connell street never seemed so long. Doesn't everyone know the saying 'the more hurry the less speed?'
Being typical culchies, we flagged a taxi on O'Connell Street and asked him to bring us to Burgh Quay. He looked at us strangely and asked if we were after having a long day. I never laughed so much when I found out where exactly it was, the other side of O'Connell bridge.
We eventually made it to the concert and only fifteen minutes late.
